First off, let me say thanks to the hot chick that hacked into my blog to prove to me that people do still check this thing...thanks babe!
Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming...
Will someone please explain to me why the interstate should EVER come to a complete stop for any reason other than an accident or lane closures. Moving to Prattville (I can see clearly now...the house has been completed for quite some time now), has given me the opportunity to partake in our fine Alabama interstate system. What has gotten me confused though, is when I am driving to work...on the interstate...no accidents or lane closings, why do I have to come to a complete stop? multiple times! I mean, think with me for a minute. If the first person on the interstate is driving 60 mph, then the next person shoudl be as well...so should the next, and the next, and the next, etc. Even if the first person pulls off on an exit, the next person doesn't have to stop completely. They just keep driving...does this make sense to anyone else?
I keep picturing in my head, the first person in the long line heading to Montgomery, just stopping on the interstate for no apparent reason...other than to tick off the rest of us trying to get to Mtgy to earn a living. If this is the case, who is this person and where can I find them?
Anybody have any thoughts to contribute?

I feel your pain. I've always thought I would be a much better disciple of Jesus if it weren't for driving. I still say that driving in metro Montgomery is worse than ATL. While we have plenty of woes and it takes 45 minutes to drive ANYWHERE, at least here we have the population as an excuse. I'm not sure what it is there. Next time someone stops like that just shoot them. I hear that works in L.A. :)
Welcome back! Thanks for the "shout out" Friday night while we were "parked" on I-65. Once we jumped off on the N. Bypass we were headed the wrong way, but we were making REALLY good time. That is why I LOVE living in Montgomery and working in Wetumpka. I am going opposite the flow of the herd. Thousands of cars are streaming south on Hwy. 231 but only a few of us are heading north. The danger there is, if you drive less than 75 somebody may rear-end you. It also helps that I go to work about the time many folks are just waking up. Even early, though, the E. Bypass is awful. It is not the bypass of course, it is the idiots behind the wheel. If you leave anything near enough space between your vehicle and the one in front of you, somebody will pull into it--abruptly---without signal. But we are going fast!
Do NOT even get me started on Montgomery drivers... Gah!
Ok, two comments.
First of all, Montgomery drivers are NOT the only bad drivers around here. I get so sick & tired of hearing people say that. We were recently in Nashville & they were WAY WORSE than Montgomery drivers. And sorry, Jon, but Atlanta drivers are worse too. And it has nothing to do with population. I see Atlanta drivers in Montgomery who drive just as bad as they do in Atlanta. I have also experienced drivers in Florida & California, & they are horrible as well. So everyone just stop complaining about Montgomery drivers because it's not just them. Plus, if you are on the interstate, there are almost as many out-of-town drivers on the road as there are local drivers. GAH.
Secondly, thanks, Baron, for totally dissing the Prattville commute. Now no one will come live in Prattville with us. Y'all, I promise it's not a bad commute. PLEASE COME LIVE IN PRATTVILLE!!! It's the preferred community. And our sales tax is lower.

I completely agree Baron! Every single morning, I go through that thought process. I cannot fathom why in the world we should come to a complete stop on the interstate when there's nothing blocking the roadway. all i can think of is that when the first few idiots of the morning start tapping their brakes it has a domino affect on the rest of us and ends up clogging up the works. I LOVE the Millbrook/Prattville area, but if we could cut out the interestate commute before and after work, I'd like it even more. =) Sorry Laura... Probably doesn't help your argument any.
glad you finally posted! laura-glad you are the savior of montgomery and everything and i can say this because I finally love montgomery, and feel like its my home-it took a long time forit to grow on me, but i have to disagree. MONTY DRIVERS SUCK and so does the whole system here. Its like they never planned for the city to grow beyong the bypass. the entire system is jacked up.
that sounded harsh. lets put it this way; bad drivers are everywhere. monty drivers just scare me. i saw two wrecks just yesterday when iwas out for two hours. I will give it this, though, california is WAY worse. theyre a bunch of embecils out there. ;)
I think y'all are misunderstanding me. I am not defending Montgomery's road system, nor am I content with the morning commute to Montgomery. I'm just saying that bad drivers are everywhere. That's just my opinion. I've driven in lots of different states, and I don't think that Montgomery drivers are better, but I also don't think they're worse. Good grief - I've commented enough here that I could have just posted on my own blog. :-)
Sorry, Lerra. I'll have to diss the Prattville commute as well. That's one of the big reasons I moved FROM Prattville TO Montgomery. I made that morning and evening commute for a good six years and thought I had gotten used to it. But hear me now...Prattville may be the "preferred community" but nothing beats driving 2 minutes to work and 2 minutes to church! Nothing, I tell you, nothing!
P.S. Don't tell my mom I dissed Prattville. :)

The only point I was trying to make is that drivers are bad everywhere & not just in Montgomery. But I'm not going to make that point anymore cause I've already said it too many times. Baron, please hurry up & do another post so we can stop talking about this!
